Tribute to David Morris at the Liberty Disability Arts Festival
When: 4 September 2010.
Where: Trafalgar Square, London.
Friends of the disability rights campaigner David Morris are to pay tribute to his life and work at London's Liberty Disability Arts Festival. David, who died in April of this year, was a leading figure in Liberty’s development and this year’s festival will be dedicated to his memory.
The film 'Together' commissioned by the UKDPC will be released at hourly showings on the half hour in the Red Jesus Chill Out Tent. Red Jesus was the name David gave to a cultural “salon”, gatherings of disabled friends where films were shown, poetry read, and food, produced in his own style of non recipe cooking, was enjoyed.
The tent is being organised by some of David's friends who are commemorating his artistic and cultural legacy in creating this space in his memory. It is being sponsored by Disability LIB to support disabled people to take the opportunity to come together and share in tribute to a man who had such an impact on disabled people individually and organisationally.
Trafalgar Square will be full of events that are free and should be accessible for all. If you would like to come along or for more information about the Festival, including parking arrangements, then please visit: www.london.gov.uk/liberty
